Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has denied claims that compromising videos of him exist, as his dispute with GoldBod CEO Sammy Gyamfi intensifies.
The Effutu MP said no video exists showing him engaging in conduct that could damage his reputation, his family or the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
“Nobody has any video of me doing anything to embarrass myself, my family and the party. No, there is nothing like that anywhere,” he said.
Mr Afenyo-Markin made the remarks on Monday, August 31, 2026, when members of the Asafo Companies One and Two from Effutu paid a solidarity visit to him at his residence in Accra.
His comments come against the backdrop of a public dispute with Mr Gyamfi, who has accused the Minority Leader of being an “extortionist” and alleged that he was attempting to pressure the state-owned gold trading company.
Mr Afenyo-Markin has rejected the allegations and initiated legal action against Mr Gyamfi and three other individuals over statements he considers defamatory.
Addressing the broader scrutiny surrounding the controversy, the Minority Leader acknowledged that social media has significantly increased the exposure politicians face in public life.
“It is a social media era, so as a politician I have to accept some of these things that will come my way,” he said.
