“Turn diplomatic ties into economic gains” — Mahama tasks new envoys

By: Emmanuel Bekoe

President John Dramani Mahama has commissioned four ambassador-designates and a permanent representative-designate, urging them to secure investments, create jobs and expand opportunities for Ghanaian businesses abroad.

He said Ghana’s diplomatic relations must deliver measurable economic benefits, particularly through investments that promote industrialisation, economic growth and employment.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, President Mahama emphasised the role of Ghana’s diplomatic missions in advancing the government’s development priorities.

He charged the newly commissioned representatives to identify foreign investors whose interests align with Ghana’s development agenda and facilitate access to international markets for Ghanaian businesses.

The President also urged them to establish partnerships that would promote skills development, research and technology transfer to support the country’s economic transformation.

The four officials commissioned include Nana Antwiwaa Dodoo, Ambassador-designate to the Republic of Angola; Louis Kwame Obeng, Ambassador-designate to the State of Qatar; and Evelyn Korantemaa Ofosu-Amable, Ambassador-designate to the State of Israel.

Jedidiah Reuben Adogla was commissioned as Permanent Representative-designate to Switzerland.

The appointments come as the government seeks to use international cooperation and economic diplomacy to attract investment, strengthen trade relations and create opportunities for businesses and workers in Ghana.
