“BRICS partnership to broaden Ghana’s development options” — Mahama

By: Emmanuel Bekoe

President John Dramani Mahama says Ghana’s application for partnership with BRICS is intended to expand the country’s economic opportunities while preserving its longstanding relationships with traditional development partners.

He said the move would create new avenues for trade, investment, industrialisation and value addition through deeper cooperation among developing countries.

President Mahama made the remarks during the commissioning of four ambassador-designates and a permanent representative-designate, where he outlined the government’s expectations for Ghana’s diplomatic missions.

He urged the newly appointed diplomats to clearly communicate Ghana’s approach to international partnerships and ensure their engagements align with the government’s foreign policy priorities.

The President stressed that pursuing new partnerships should complement, rather than undermine, Ghana’s existing international relationships as the country seeks to diversify its development options.

Ghana’s interest in BRICS partnership reflects an effort to strengthen cooperation with emerging economies and explore additional opportunities for economic growth, trade and investment.

The newly commissioned envoys are Nana Antwiwaa Dodoo, Ambassador-designate to the Republic of Angola; Louis Kwame Obeng, Ambassador-designate to the State of Qatar; Evelyn Korantemaa Ofosu-Amable, Ambassador-designate to the State of Israel; and Jedidiah Reuben Adogla, Permanent Representative-designate to Switzerland.
