A 57-year-old man identified only as Francis has been found dead in his room at Mamponteng in the Kwabre East District of the Ashanti Region, months after reportedly separating from his wife.
The incident, which has left residents in shock, has also renewed conversations about emotional wellbeing and the psychological impact of divorce and isolation.
According to Assemblyman Yaminu Sulemana, residents became alarmed after a strong smell was detected from Francis’s room on Tuesday night. Concerned neighbors later checked the room and found him dead, with the body already in a state of decomposition.
Police from Mamponteng were immediately called to the scene to secure the area and begin preliminary investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death.
With support from community members, arrangements were later made for the burial in accordance with local customs.
Mr. Sulemana said Francis had appeared withdrawn and emotionally distressed following the collapse of his marriage and was often seen keeping to himself.
He noted that although some residents occasionally checked on him, the extent of his emotional struggles was not fully known.
Describing the deceased as hardworking and quiet, the Assemblyman said Francis had three children and had not openly shown signs that he might take his own life.
Police say investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
