NACOC seizes five million tablets of tapentadol

The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has intercepted a 40-foot trailer carrying an estimated five million tablets of Tapentadol 250mg in a major anti-drug operation.

In a statement issued on Thursday, April 30, 2026, the Commission said the consignment was seized during an intelligence-led operation while en route to the Niger Republic.

NACOC disclosed that four suspects have been arrested in connection with the shipment, describing the bust as a major interception.

The suspects are currently under investigation, with authorities believing they are part of a wider trafficking network involved in the cross-border movement of controlled substances.

The Commission reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying surveillance and enforcement to curb the trafficking of dangerous drugs.

It added that it is working with international partners to trace the origin and intended distribution channels of the consignment as efforts continue to dismantle the network behind it.
