Award-winning Ghanaian dancehall artist Charles Nii Armah Mensah, widely known as Shatta Wale, has reportedly initiated legal proceedings against the controversial media figure Blakk Rasta, alleging defamation and demanding a staggering GH¢100 million in damages.
This lawsuit was first highlighted by the prominent Ghanaian television channel GHOne TV on Monday, January 19, 2026, and has since ignited considerable debate across both social media and traditional news platforms.
The legal action arises from a recent public dispute between the two figures, following the arrest of businessman and socialite Abu Trica, who is based in Swedru. Abu Trica was reportedly apprehended by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in coordination with Ghanaian law enforcement agencies due to suspected fraud-related activities.
While hosting his well-known radio programme, Black Pot, Blakk Rasta made remarks regarding Abu Trica’s arrest, which included claims that implicated Shatta Wale.
The broadcaster purportedly accused the "Street Crown" hitmaker of having close ties to Abu Trica and other individuals who have allegedly been detained by the FBI over suspected cybercrime offences.
Sources suggest that Shatta Wale regards the comments made during the broadcast as damaging to his reputation and brand, leading him to seek legal recourse.
As of the time of this report, neither Shatta Wale nor Blakk Rasta has publicly addressed the matter or provided an official statement regarding their positions on the lawsuit.
