C/R: Musician arrested for alleged murder of bartender over business dispute

A popular musician in Manso and its surrounding areas, Akwasi Gyamfi, also known as Sly Doe, has been arrested for allegedly killing a 30-year-old bartender named Nana Yaw in Mpatuam, located in the Amansie South District of Ghana's Ashanti Region.

The incident took place on February 27, 2026, following a dispute over a rented space.

Ama Kraa, the deceased's girlfriend, informed the media that Nana Yaw was brutally attacked with a small axe after a misunderstanding with Gyamfi.

"We hire a space from the suspect's family for our drinking bar business, and for some time now, he's been picking fights with us," she said, adding that Gyamfi frequently tampered with their electricity meter, leading to altercations.

"He switched off the meter again, and when we confronted him, he went inside his house and returned with an axe, attacking the deceased and killing him in cold blood," Ama Kraa narrated.

The suspect has been apprehended by police in Nkawie and is currently assisting with investigations.
