Kojo Antwi credits wife and faith for keeping him grounded

Ghanaian highlife icon Kojo Antwi, widely known as Music Man, has opened up about how his music, fame and marriage have shaped his life and career.

Speaking in an interview on StarrChat with host Bola Ray, the legendary musician disclosed that he intentionally writes his songs with women in mind, a creative approach that has contributed to his long-standing “lover boy” reputation.

“I write my music with women in mind. They see me as a lover boy,” he said.

Kojo Antwi admitted that being in the public eye comes with constant temptations, noting that he has faced such challenges throughout his career. Despite this, he emphasised that he has always taken conscious steps to protect his personal life and relationships.

He revealed that his wife plays a crucial role in helping him remain disciplined, explaining that she accompanies him on most of his trips and public engagements, including international travels. According to him, her presence has helped him avoid situations that could potentially harm his reputation or family life.

The veteran singer also shared that his wife holds a special place in his music, as she is among the few individuals he has written songs about.

He added that he has also composed songs in honour of his parents, as well as prominent historical figures such as Okomfo Anokye and Kwame Nkrumah.

Kojo Antwi further reflected on the pressures that come with fame, cautioning that public figures must be mindful of their choices and associations. He credited divine grace and the support of his wife for helping him stay focused and avoid controversies over the years.

The highlife legend remains one of Ghana’s most respected musicians, celebrated for his timeless love songs and enduring influence on the country’s music industry.
