The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has strongly condemned alleged incidents of bribery and vote buying that reportedly marred the party’s parliamentary primaries in the Ayawaso East Constituency.
In a statement issued by the party’s National Secretariat on Saturday, February 7, 2026, the NDC said its national executives had been alerted to widespread inducement of delegates, allegedly carried out by some aspirants during the primaries.
The party described the reported acts as a direct affront to its core values and principles, stressing that such conduct undermines internal democracy and the broader reset agenda it is championing.
“The party vehemently condemns these actions in no uncertain terms,” the statement said, adding that the leadership would not tolerate practices that compromise fairness and credibility within its electoral processes.
The NDC announced that it has immediately instituted a full-scale investigation into the allegations and assured members that swift action would be taken against any candidate found culpable.
Beyond the ongoing probe, the party issued a stern warning to aspirants and party members, indicating that harsher sanctions would be applied in future cases of electoral malpractice. These measures, the statement noted, could include the outright cancellation of elections where serious breaches are established.
The statement was signed by the General Secretary of the NDC, Hon. Fifi Fiavi Kwetey.
