There was no discussion of any GH¢55 million cedis with me — Dennis Miracles Aboagye

By: Emmanuel Bekoe

Dennis Miracles Aboagye, an aide to the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has rejected reports suggesting that the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) questioned him over GH¢55 million, describing the claim as false.

In a statement following his release from EOCO custody, Mr Aboagye said there was no discussion between him and investigators regarding any GH¢55 million amount, insisting that the facts surrounding his detention would eventually emerge.

“For the records: there was no discussion of any GH¢55 million cedis with me by EOCO. None!!!” he stated.

Mr Aboagye was detained by EOCO four days ago, a day after announcing his intention to contest for the position of National Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). He said the timing of his detention and the information circulated about it created a false narrative about the circumstances surrounding the case.

He thanked NPP supporters who demonstrated solidarity during his detention, saying their support strengthened him and reinforced his commitment to political service.

“From my detention, word of your protests reached me, and it kept my spirit standing tall,” he said, adding that supporters had defended the principle that “no voice can be intimidated into silence.”

The former presidential staffer maintained that attempts to weaken his political ambition had failed, insisting that he remained committed to leading the NPP’s Communications Directorate.

“If the intention was to break me, it has failed. If the intention was to scare me, it has failed spectacularly,” he said.

Mr Aboagye also expressed appreciation to his legal team, party leadership and supporters, saying the experience had strengthened his resolve. “Fuel has only been added to fire,” he added.
