Which records prove Sedina is in prison? – Baffour Awuah challenges Interior Minister

The Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, has challenged the government to provide documentary evidence proving that former MASLOC Chief Executive Officer Sedina Tamakloe-Attionu is serving her prison sentence.

Speaking on Joy FM's Newsnight, the lawmaker questioned the absence of publicly available records confirming her incarceration despite repeated assurances from government officials that she is in the custody of the Ghana Prisons Service.

“Where are the records confirming that she’s in prison? Where are the records?” he asked.

His comments come amid growing public debate over the whereabouts of the convicted former MASLOC boss. Interior Minister Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak has maintained that Sedina Tamakloe-Attionu is serving her sentence but declined to disclose the specific prison facility, citing security concerns.

According to Baffour Awuah, the minister’s explanation has failed to settle public concerns and has instead fuelled further suspicion.

He argued that the transfer of a convicted person into prison custody follows established legal and administrative procedures, including the issuance of a warrant and a formal handover from the police to prison authorities.

“There are processes that lead to a person being taken into prison custody. There is a warrant which is supposed to evidence the person having been delivered into the custody of the prison service by the police,” he stated.

The MP insisted that such records should be readily available to verify whether Sedina Tamakloe-Attionu is indeed serving her sentence as government officials claim.

He also criticised suggestions that parliamentary oversight would not bring further clarity to the matter, describing such a stance as inconsistent with democratic accountability.

The controversy over Sedina Tamakloe-Attionu’s custodial status has sparked weeks of political and public debate, with government insisting she is in lawful custody while critics continue to demand greater transparency.
