A group of NPP Electoral Area Coordinators in Greater Accra has petitioned the party's National Executive Committee (NEC) to compel Kennedy Agyapong to substantiate allegations against the party or face disciplinary action.
The petition follows recent public remarks by former NPP flagbearer aspirant Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, who criticised the party for failing to complete the Afari Hospital project during its eight years in government and later threatened to expose the party and some of its members.
According to the coordinators, Mr. Agyapong's comments risk damaging the image and credibility of the New Patriotic Party if the allegations are left unverified.
In their petition, the group expressed concern over what they described as a pattern of public criticism directed at party leaders, institutions and key policy positions by the former Assin Central MP.
"We are particularly concerned by reports of a recent media interview in which Hon. Kennedy Agyapong allegedly threatened to disclose confidential information and documents relating to the affairs of the party," portions of the petition stated.
The coordinators argued that any party member with evidence of misconduct, corruption, abuse of office or breaches of party rules should present such information to the appropriate party structures and lawful authorities for investigation.
They therefore called on the NEC to direct Mr. Agyapong to submit any evidence in his possession to enable a thorough investigation of the claims he has made publicly.
According to the petitioners, such a process would reinforce public confidence in the NPP's commitment to transparency, accountability and internal discipline.
The group also urged party leaders to assess whether Mr. Agyapong's conduct aligns with the party's constitution, traditions and values, while providing clearer guidance on public communications by senior members.
They further appealed to the leadership to reassure party supporters nationwide that the NPP remains united and focused on rebuilding support ahead of the 2028 general elections.
