C/R: Cape Coast Assembly takes action to clear market congestion and promote safety

The Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly task force, led by Coordinating Director Mr. Asuma Braimah, stormed the Central Business Market Centres to demolish wooden structures and seize containers, as well as to remove hawkers from the roadside.

This exercise, conducted with the assistance of police, fire command, and other units, aimed to clear illegal structures and ensure pedestrian walkways at the Kotokuraba Market and Abura Market.

The Coordinating Director stated that the action was intended to reduce congestion, prevent accidents, and enhance sanitation.

"These indisciplined traders will never be allowed to return there to trade. We're using red paint to indicate where they can trade without being close to the road again," he further said. He assured that discipline would be restored in the metropolis.

Mr. Braimah also assured traders that the assembly would work with them to identify suitable trading centres.
