The National Executives of the Concerned Drivers Association of Ghana (C-DAG) have urged calm among commercial drivers and transport operators following growing concerns over recent transport fare adjustments announced by some VIP bus operators.
The Association says it has taken note of complaints raised by some regional chairmen and allied transport unions, but insists that ongoing stakeholder engagements are aimed at resolving the matter amicably and in the interest of stability within the transport sector.
According to C-DAG, its national leadership is currently engaging key stakeholders, including the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU), other sister transport unions, and the Minister for Transport, to address the concerns raised by drivers nationwide.
The association assured members that discussions are ongoing to reach a fair and lasting resolution to the dispute.
“We therefore respectfully call on all Regional Chairmen, drivers, and members of the various transport unions to remain calm and exercise restraint while these engagements continue,” the National Executives stated.
C-DAG further emphasised that unilateral actions by any group of drivers could escalate tensions and undermine efforts to reach a consensus through dialogue.
The Association also indicated that plans are far advanced to address the concerns of drivers, expressing optimism that the ongoing consultations will yield positive results in the coming days.
It reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the welfare and interests of drivers across Ghana through lawful, peaceful, and constructive engagement.
