In a major effort to boost youth employment and improve transportation in the Jaman North Constituency, Lawyer Eric Adjei has facilitated the acquisition of an initial fleet of 10 Pragya motorbikes for young people in the area under a “work and pay” initiative.
The presentation ceremony, held yesterday, brought together beneficiaries, community members, and local authorities, including the District Chief Executive for Jaman North, Hon. George Adane, who joined Lawyer Adjei to officially hand over the motorbikes.
The initiative is aimed at creating sustainable employment opportunities while addressing transportation challenges within the constituency, where Pragya motorbikes remain one of the most reliable means of transport for many communities.
Under the arrangement, beneficiaries are expected to operate the motorbikes and gradually pay for them through proceeds generated from their daily work. Organizers say the initiative has been structured as a revolving scheme to ensure its long term sustainability.
According to Lawyer Eric Adjei, funds recovered from the first batch of beneficiaries will be used to procure additional motorbikes for other unemployed youth across the constituency, allowing more young people to benefit from the programme over time.
He explained that the model is intended not only to create jobs, but also to instill responsibility, discipline, and entrepreneurship among the beneficiaries.
During the presentation, both Lawyer Adjei and Hon. George Adane advised the youth to properly maintain the motorbikes and use them responsibly as income generating assets.
They also emphasised the need for riders to obey road traffic regulations, respect law enforcement officers, and prioritise safety while operating the motorbikes.
Community members and beneficiaries welcomed the initiative and described it as a practical intervention capable of reducing unemployment and improving livelihoods within Jaman North.
Many residents expressed optimism that the project would expand in the coming years and help create a stronger local transport system driven by young entrepreneurs.
The “work and pay” Pragya initiative is expected to serve as a foundation for broader economic empowerment efforts targeted at the youth in the constituency.
