Baffour Awuah Appointed NPP Constitutional and Legal Affairs Committee Spokesperson

Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, Hon. Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, has been appointed as the new spokesperson for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Committee on Constitutional and Legal Affairs.

The appointment was confirmed in a press release signed by the party’s General Secretary, Justin Koduah Frimpong.

The Constitutional and Legal Affairs Committee is a key internal organ of the NPP tasked with advising the party on constitutional interpretation, legal compliance, and governance-related issues.

The committee is chaired by Frank Davies, who leads its constitutional and legal advisory functions.

Kwame Anyimadu-Antwi (MP) and Maxwell Opoku Agyeman serve as Co-Chairs, while Gloria Ofori Boadu has been appointed as Secretary of the committee. Diana Asonaba Dapaah serves as Co-Spokesperson.

Other members include Patrick Yaw Boamah (MP), who also serves as Chair of Subsidiary Legislation in Parliament, and Gary Nimako Marfo, the NPP’s Director of Legal Affairs.

Hon. Baffour Awuah’s appointment places him at the centre of communication on constitutional and legal matters within the committee, reflecting the party’s confidence in his legal and parliamentary experience.

A trained lawyer with a strong background in constitutional and corporate law, Baffour Awuah brings significant legal and governance experience to his new role. Prior to his parliamentary career, he built a professional legal practice as a corporate and commercial lawyer, where he handled litigation, advisory work, and commercial legal transactions.

Since entering Parliament, he has been an active member of the Parliamentary Committee on Constitutional and Legal Affairs and has contributed to legislative scrutiny, particularly in the review of subsidiary legislation and constitutional governance matters. He has also been involved in parliamentary vetting processes and committee deliberations, where he is noted for his structured legal reasoning and attention to detail.

His appointment as spokesperson is therefore seen as a strategic move by the NPP, placing him in a key communication role within a committee composed of experienced legal and political actors tasked with shaping the party’s internal constitutional direction.

The committee is expected to strengthen the party’s legal architecture, provide advisory input on constitutional matters, and support internal dispute resolution processes as part of its broader governance mandate.
