Empress Gifty Wins GH¢100k in Agradaa Defamation Case

The defamation lawsuits filed by gospel musician Empress Gifty Oppong Adorye against Evangelist Patricia Asiedua, popularly known as Nana Agradaa, have been resolved following an amicable settlement that included a GH¢100,000 payment.

According to Richard Asare Baffour, lawyer for Agradaa, the settlement reached on January 20, 2026, was adopted as a Consent Judgment by both the Tema Land Court and the Tema Main Court, formally ending the two cases filed in May and June 2025.

Empress Gifty had sued Agradaa over a series of social media posts she described as defamatory and damaging to her reputation. She sought GH¢40 million in damages, a perpetual injunction against further defamatory publications, removal of the offending content from social media, and full legal costs.

Following negotiations, the matter was resolved without proceeding to a full trial. Under the terms of the settlement, Agradaa agreed to pay GH¢100,000 to cover legal fees and related expenses. She also publicly retracted the statements, issued a public apology, and requested the National Information Technology Agency NITA to facilitate the removal of the disputed posts from social media platforms.

Mr Asare Baffour confirmed that all conditions of the settlement have been fulfilled, the GH¢100,000 has been paid in full, and a public apology has been rendered. Empress Gifty has withdrawn all claims arising from the suits, formally bringing the matter to a close.
