The Minority in Parliament has accused the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Regulatory Authority (NRA), Chris Boadi-Mensah, of doubling his salary without Board approval.
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, April 16, 2026, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Old Tafo, Vincent Ekow Assafuah stated that the alleged action not only undermines established governance procedures but also raises broader concerns about accountability and the justification for key financial decisions taken at the Authority.
“A particularly disturbing issue has emerged, we are informed that Mr.Boadi-Mensah doubled his salary immediately upon assumption of office in 2025 without a board approval,” he revealed.
He explained that the CEO was appointed in February 2025 before a governing board was constituted, with the board only established months later, making the timing of the alleged salary adjustment questionable.
“The argument that he is making is that he is the regulator of SSNIT, how come or why will the SSNIT CEO be taking salaries that is more than he being the regulator. It is on this basis that he doubled his salary in February 2025,” he said.
He indicated that the development raises key governance concerns, including the authority behind the decision, its legal justification, and whether pension contributors’ funds were used outside approved structures.
The MP further alleged that in December 2025, Mr. Boadi-Mensah approved GH¢15 million for the purchase of seven Land Cruiser vehicles, an amount he described as excessive.
“We are compelled to ask whether such expenditure was a genuine institutional priority in the interest of pension contributors especially at a when contributors expect prudent, sustainability and improved retirement outcome,” he questioned.
