Mzbel praises NAPO for quiet support during mother’s passing

Ghanaian musician Mzbel has publicly expressed gratitude to Matthew Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as NAPO, for offering her financial support during one of the most difficult periods of her life.

Speaking in an emotional interview with radio presenter Nana Romeo, the musician revealed that the former minister extended unexpected assistance to her following the passing of her mother.

“I am not his party member,” Mzbel stated. “He is not even my friend. But when NAPO saw the broadcast about my mother, he sent me money.”

According to the musician, there had been no prior relationship between them, making the gesture even more significant. She noted that the support came quietly and without any publicity.

At a time when she was grieving and burdened with funeral arrangements, Mzbel said the unexpected help brought both relief and comfort.

In Ghanaian culture, offering support during bereavement is regarded as one of the highest expressions of solidarity and humanity. Observers say such gestures often leave lasting impressions because they are rooted in empathy rather than obligation.

Dr. Prempeh, a prominent political figure known for his involvement in national policy discussions, has frequently been in the public spotlight.

However, Mzbel’s account has highlighted a more personal dimension of leadership one grounded in compassion and responsiveness beyond political affiliations.
