Dr Bawumia urges Ghanaians to lead meaningful lives

The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has urged Ghanaians to lead purposeful lives, build lasting legacies, and show respect for one another.

His remarks came during a tribute to the late Dr Abubakari Saddick Ahmed, the former communication director of the Ghana Hajj Board and a lecturer at the University of Ghana (Legon).

Dr Bawumia emphasised that a person's true worth is measured by the impact they have on others, rather than by material possessions. He characterised Dr Ahmed as a dedicated public servant and academic whose life exemplified service and humility.

In his tribute, Dr Bawumia shared a personal anecdote about how the late Dr Ahmed had granted him his first media interview. This interview occurred when Dr Bawumia visited Legon to speak to students at a programme for which Dr Ahmed had invited him.

"That interview that he gave me was my very first interview in Ghana that I had never spoken on any radio, TV, station, never. He gave me my very first interview and I have never forgotten that," he stated.

He added that they had maintained a close friendship until Dr Ahmed's passing. The Vice President also expressed his condolences to the bereaved family, highlighting the invaluable legacy Dr Ahmed leaves behind.
