Ghanaian YouTuber and content creator Kwadwo Sheldon has stirred debate online after declaring he would switch his political allegiance if the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government succeeds in extraditing a Russian national accused of sharing videos of Ghanaian women without consent.
Sheldon said he would abandon his support for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and align with the NDC if the suspect, identified as Yaytselav, is extradited to Ghana to face questioning.
His comments come amid growing public outrage over videos allegedly recorded and shared online by the Russian national, prompting calls for Ghanaian authorities to take action and ensure accountability.
The Ministry for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have assured the public that efforts are underway to engage the Russian authorities on the matter.
According to minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation, Hon Sam George, the government will use diplomatic channels and available authority to push for the suspect to be made available to Ghanaian authorities for investigation.
The ministry's pledge has since generated widespread reactions on social media, with some users expressing confidence in the government’s ability to secure extradition, while others remain sceptical about the likelihood of Russia releasing its citizen.
In response to the ongoing debate, Sheldon publicly vowed to stake his personal brand on the outcome, insisting he would switch his political support if the government succeeds in bringing the suspect to Ghana.
The situation continues to attract national attention, highlighting broader concerns about digital privacy, accountability, and international legal cooperation.
