The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has issued a directive cautioning the public against organising cultural performances at the country’s airports without prior approval from management.
In a public notice posted on the company ‘s official Facebook page stated that traditional displays such as drumming, dancing, singing, chanting and ululations will no longer be permitted at airport terminals unless official clearance has been granted.
According to GACL, individuals, families or groups intending to welcome guests with cultural performances must first seek permission from its Commercial Services Department.
The company explained that without such authorisation, performers and their instruments will not be allowed access to airport premises.
GACL noted that the directive has become necessary due to the increasing number of informal cultural welcomes at arrival areas, which often disrupt airport operations and hinder the smooth movement of passengers.
Although the company did not outline specific sanctions for those who violate the directive, it emphasised that airport activities are strictly regulated and must be conducted in a manner that ensures safety, orderliness and efficiency.
GACL further urged individuals and groups interested in organising approved cultural welcomes to contact the Commercial Services Department in advance to complete the required procedures on 0302 550612 Ext. 6147 for guidance.
