NPP alleges pattern of selective justice under NDC administration

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has accused the government of undermining the rule of law through what it describes as the selective application of justice and the politicisation of state institutions.

In a statement issued by its Policy Secretariat, the party alleged that agencies, including the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), National Security, and the Police, have increasingly been used against political opponents and government critics.

The NPP claimed the trend has been marked by aggressive enforcement actions and restrictive bail conditions, which it says reflect a departure from due process and equal protection under the law.

The statement further argued that prosecutorial decisions have weakened accountability mechanisms in the country.

“Two developments now demand particular attention: the treatment of convicted persons and the unlawful implementation of legal reforms,” the statement noted.

The party also alleged that some high-profile corruption cases have been discontinued or resolved through negotiated settlements, describing them as “backdoor acquittals and negotiated escapes” that undermine justice.

According to the NPP, such developments risk eroding public confidence in state institutions if not urgently addressed.
