The parents of young TikToker Adobea have publicly spoken out following intense backlash over a viral video showing the child appearing to drink alcohol.

‎A viral video surfaced online on Tuesday, September 1, showing young Adobea drinking from a Smirnoff bottle, with an adult woman sitting beside her.

‎The video sparked public concern, with netizens questioning why a minor was taking what appeared to be an alcoholic beverage and why the adults around her did not intervene.

‎According to Adobea’s mother, however, the bottle did not contain alcohol but water.

‎She explained that they had been invited to a party, where she had finished drinking the Smirnoff. Her daughter, Adobea, then decided to refill the bottle with water to create content for her YouTube page.

‎“The day we went out, I was the one drinking the Smirnoff. When I was done, Afia said, ‘Mom, I want to shoot some content and post it on my YouTube page to advise the youth.‎

‎“Adobea took the bottle and refilled it with water. Afia does not take alcoholic beverages. I was even invited to the programme, and I took just one bottle,” Adobea’s mother explained.‎

‎She further apologised to her fans and Ghanaians, asking them to forgive her and Adobea and promising that such a mistake would not happen again.

‎“So, I plead with you all. Ghanaians are backlashing me. Respectfully, she was not supposed to be seen with the Smirnoff bottle. Please forgive her,” she said.
