The Ghana Police Service has arrested seven (7) suspects in connection with a gold robbery syndicate valued at US$450,000.00.
According to the police statement, the case began after Mousa Bamba, an Ivorian investor, reported that he had been lured to Dzorwulu to purchase six kilograms of gold worth US$450,000.00.
The police indicated that the suspects posed as CID officers and military personnel, robbed the victim at gunpoint, and fled the scene.
The syndicate is also believed to be linked to a series of attacks across Accra, Tema, Anyinam, Kumasi, and Takoradi, during which victims were robbed of cash, gold, and mercury.
Further investigations led to the arrest of Mohammed Umaro, also known as Alhaji, and Gabriel Sewornu, popularly known as Dangote.
The police further indicated that two military personnel, including Lance Corporal Eugene Akurugu and Lance Corporal Emmanuel Arko, also known as Bullet, as well as three police officers, Inspector Richmond Osei, Corporal Gideon Anor, and Lance Corporal Felix Deku Tetteyga, were implicated in the case.
According to the police, the officers have been interdicted to allow for further investigations.
Meanwhile, on Saturday, May 23, and Sunday, May 24, 2026, intelligence-led operations by the Office of the Special Operations Assistant to the IGP led to the arrest of additional suspects, including Justin Oduro, also known as Don King alias Mafia, Clement Gyasi, and Farouk Zakari.
All suspects are currently in police custody assisting investigations, while efforts are ongoing to arrest other accomplices linked to the syndicate.
