Health Minister orders immediate posting of doctors and midwives to Kasoa Mother and Child Hospital

The Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has directed the immediate posting of three medical doctors and five midwives to the Mother and Child Hospital in Kasoa following concerns over service delivery at the facility.

Speaking to the media during his visit, he urged management to improve service delivery and work to change the negative perception surrounding the hospital.

"So the problems they enumerated those I can solve instantly, I have directed that about 3 medical doctors should be posted here with immediate effect, I have also directed that they should post 5 midwives to this facility, I have also directed that about 5 of their otherlies must be mechanised with immediate effect.

"I have directed them to make sure that from tomorrow they start changing the narrative at the mother and child," he stated.

Mr Akandoh said he had ordered management to provide him with a list of medical equipment required at the hospital and promised the items would be delivered within 24 to 48 hours.

He said the government was working to address all the issues raised.

He added that he had instructed management to ensure senior health professionals are available to attend to patients and that CCTV cameras around the facility remain operational at all times.

He also noted some staff were not wearing name tags and said he had admonished and encouraged them to wear them consistently to help curb security issues.

"We must see people responding to clients, patients at the entrance, directing and engaging them on where to sit, they must make senior health professionals available to patients where they will direct them where to go and what they need at the facility.

"I have seen their CCTV cameras that they should make sure at every point in time, the CCTV cameras are also working, I also took notice of the fact that there were a number of health professionals who were not wearing their name tugs and have admonished them to do that," he said.
