Ghanaian sprinter Joseph Paul Amoah says the country’s Men’s 4×100m Relay Team is determined to secure a medal at the 2026 African Senior Athletics Championships after Ghana narrowly missed out on the podium in the Men’s 100m final.
Amoah and Ghana’s national record holder, Abdul-Rasheed Saminu, both featured in the final of the Men’s 100 metres but finished outside the medal positions.
Paul Amoah placed fourth in a time of 10.32 seconds, while Saminu finished sixth in the highly competitive race.
Cameroon’s Emmanuel Eseme claimed gold after clocking 10.25 seconds. South Africa’s Bradley Nkoana secured silver with a time of 10.311 seconds, while Nigeria’s Chidrra Ezeakor took bronze in 10.318 seconds.
Speaking after the race, Amoah admitted disappointment over missing out on a medal in the individual sprint event but expressed confidence in Ghana’s chances in the relay competition.
“We will get a medal in the relays,” he assured, promising a stronger performance from the Ghanaian team in the Men’s 4×100m event.
The sprinter’s comments come as expectations remain high for Ghana’s relay team, which has consistently shown promise on the continental and international stage.
