President John Dramani Mahama and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan have discussed investment strategies to expand Ghana’s oil and gas storage infrastructure.
The two leaders held the engagement on the sidelines of the “Make it in the Emirates 2026” summit at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre on Wednesday, May 6, 2026.
Beyond traditional fossil fuels, both leaders emphasised the need to diversify energy portfolios by transitioning to Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and solar power to reduce over-reliance on crude oil.
The leaders also addressed the ongoing Middle East tensions, recognising the UAE’s challenging position as a buffer zone.
They expressed hope for a swift resolution to US-Iran hostilities, stating that restoring peace would allow the global community to refocus on sustainable development and innovation.
Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan reaffirmed support for mutual growth with Ghana, describing the country as a “peaceful partner” and a “secure, stable democracy,” while highlighting significant opportunities for cooperation.
