Ten arrested over illegal ammunition in connection with Adambrobe chieftaincy dispute

Ten persons have been arrested on Sunday, May 3, 2026 at Adambrobe in Aburi for unlawfully possessing arms and ammunition on in connection with the alleged chieftaincy dispute in the area.

In a police statement, the suspects were identified as Dawu Joseph, a farmer; Kwame Aboagye, a vulcanizer; Samuel Obeng, a taxi driver in Adambrobe; Owusu Paul, a member of the Adambrobe Asekyere family; and Jerry John Kwame Atilla, a businessman based in Sowutuom.

The others are Evans Dekadzor, Christian Atsu, Samuel Annan, Thomas Davidson, and Richard Agyeman, all of whom are private security personnel.

Police retrieved five pump-action rifles, 23 live cartridges, a taser, six mobile phones, and a body armour. 

They also impounded an unregistered Ford pickup and a Toyota Corolla with registration number GE 2560-19, which were used to transport the suspects.

According to police, another suspect, Douglas Amoako Danquah, was arrested on Monday, May 4, 2026, after being apprehended during a procession in the township, bringing the total number of arrests to eleven.

Suspects are currently in police custody assisting in investigations.

The Eastern Regional Police Command assured its commitment to maintaining peace and stability in Adambrobe, urging all parties to exercise restraint.
