Tensions in the Middle East are escalating as Iraq has shut down oil port operations following deadly attacks on two foreign oil tankers. Gulf countries — Bahrain, Kuwait, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia have reported intercepting Iranian missiles and drones amid the crisis.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has outlined three conditions for ending the conflict: recognition of Iran’s legitimate rights, payment of reparations, and firm international guarantees against future aggression. Meanwhile, Donald Trump has pledged to protect oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz, while Iran has warned the world to prepare for oil prices potentially hitting $200 a barrel.
The conflict has intensified on the ground as Iran and Hezbollah reportedly launched coordinated attacks on Israel, while the Israeli military continues large-scale airstrikes on Beirut, the Lebanese capital.
