NPA assures public of adequate fuel stocks and stable market conditions

The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has assured the public that Ghana currently has adequate fuel stocks and that the national fuel supply situation remains stable.

In a bid to address public concerns, the NPA announced that it has thoroughly reviewed national petroleum stock levels and supply arrangements.

This review was conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition, along with key industry stakeholders.

The NPA confirmed that sufficient quantities of Petrol (PMS), Diesel (AGO), Aviation Turbine Kerosene (ATK), and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) are available in the country to meet both current and projected national demand.

According to the management of the NPA, the government, through the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition, will continue to implement proactive measures to safeguard supply reliability and maintain market stability.

A statement released on Wednesday, March 11, revealed that these measures include ongoing monitoring of national stock levels and strategic coordination with International Oil Trading Companies (IOTCs), Bulk Import, Distribution and Export Companies (BIDECS), BOST Energies, and local refineries.

This coordination aims to ensure timely imports and consistent product availability across the country.

The NPA emphasised the importance of strengthening strategic supply planning and price monitoring mechanisms to mitigate any potential supply disruptions or price volatility arising from developments in the global petroleum market.

The NPA reassured the public that there is no cause for alarm or panic buying, as the petroleum supply chain continues to function normally and adequate stocks are available nationwide.

The Authority remains committed to ensuring a reliable fuel supply, transparent market operations, and the protection of consumer interests. It will continue to keep the public informed of any significant developments.
