Medikal responds to critic over NYA ‘Red Means Stop’ ambassador role

Ghanaian rapper Medikal has fired back at a social media critic who questioned his suitability for the National Youth Authority’s (NYA) “Red Means Stop” ambassadorial role.

On February 27, 2026, the award-winning artiste took to X to reply to a user who suggested he was not the right choice for the campaign.

In a blunt message, Medikal dismissed the criticism and told the netizen to “shut up,” saying the backlash was driven by envy.

“It’s interesting how my influence bothers you this much. Clearly, I’m impactful enough to command your time and attention,” he wrote, adding that critics were unfairly projecting their personal frustrations onto national leadership.

“Don’t project personal frustrations onto leadership; not everything wrong in your life is the government’s fault. Step up or shut the hell up,” Medikal added.

The rapper’s appointment as an official ambassador for the NYA’s “Red Means Stop” initiative is part of a broader push to involve young people in civic responsibility and social-awareness programmes.

While some of his followers defended his achievements and influence, others criticized the tone of his response, saying it was unnecessarily harsh for a public figure in a civic role.

The exchange has sparked mixed reactions online, with supporters praising Medikal’s confidence and detractors questioning whether his public persona aligns with the campaign’s objectives.

The NYA has not publicly commented on the social media exchange.
