Black Stars coach Carlos Queiroz has dismissed reports that he resigned after Ghana's 2026 FIFA World Cup exit, insisting he merely expressed gratitude.
Speculation intensified after Queiroz shared a social media message thanking Ghanaians for the opportunity to lead the national team, with many interpreting the post as a resignation despite his contract remaining valid until August.
However, the former Portugal and Iran coach has clarified that he never resigned from the position.
"I didn't resign. I sent a message of gratitude," Queiroz said in a viral social media video while speaking with a fan, dismissing the reports.
The clarification comes after Ghana's World Cup campaign ended in the Round of 32 following a defeat to Colombia. The Black Stars had progressed from the group stage after finishing third in their group.
Following the team's exit, Queiroz publicly thanked players, officials and Ghanaians for the opportunity to lead the side at the tournament, a message that fuelled speculation over his future.
Queiroz was appointed on a four-month contract by the Ghana Football Association (GFA), with the agreement scheduled to run until August.
The GFA is expected to review his tenure in the coming weeks as it assesses the team's performance at the World Cup and determines the next direction for the senior national team.
