The Ministry of Finance has confirmed that it fully settled a US$700 million Eurobond obligation on Thursday, July 2, 2026, ahead of schedule.

The payment included US$525.2 million in principal and US$174.8 million in interest, the ministry said in a statement issued on Monday, July 6, 2026, by the Public Relations Unit.

The settlement forms part of Ghana’s Eurobond Debt Exchange Programme and brings the total amount paid to Eurobond holders since January 2025 to US$2.1 billion.

The ministry said the payment was made through existing financing arrangements without placing undue pressure on the country’s foreign exchange reserves.

According to the statement, the early repayment reduces Ghana’s outstanding Eurobond liabilities, bolsters investor confidence, and underscores the government’s commitment to prudent debt management and macroeconomic stability.

The ministry reiterated that it will continue to apply sound public financial management practices to ensure the timely servicing of the nation’s debt obligations.

The Finance Ministry thanked Ghanaians for their patience, support and confidence as the government implements its debt‑management strategy.
