The Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has released GH¢2.6 billion to Licensed Buying Companies (LBCs) to pay cocoa farmers across all cocoa-producing regions.
According to a release issued by the Public Affairs Department, the disbursement forms part of continued efforts to settle outstanding obligations to farmers for the 2025/26 crop season.
Tte Board highlighted that, since the start of the 2025/26 season, COCOBOD has paid a total of GH¢34,523,447,255.64 to LBCs for onward payment to farmers.
Out of the GH¢2.6 billion released, roughly GH¢1.4 billion has been designated specifically to clear remaining balances owed to farmers for cocoa taken on credit.
COCOBOD said it is working closely with LBCs and has instituted monitoring mechanisms to ensure the funds reach the intended beneficiaries.
The Board urged farmers with outstanding payments to engage the LBC through which they sold their cocoa and reassured them that no farmer will be denied payment for cocoa legitimately sold through the approved purchasing system.
COCOBOD underscores the Government’s commitment to protecting farmers’ welfare and preserving the integrity of Ghana’s cocoa industry.
The Board thanked farmers for their patience and pledged to continue working with government and industry stakeholders to strengthen the cocoa value chain and improve farmer welfare.
