Ghana will face Colombia in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Round of 32 after finishing third in Group L following a dramatic 2-1 defeat to Croatia.
The Black Stars adopted a more attacking approach than in their previous group games and nearly earned a valuable result. Croatia took the lead before halftime through a powerful long-range strike from Petar Sucic.
Ghana restored parity in the second half when Derrick Luckassen converted Ernest Nuamah's cross. The goal was confirmed after a lengthy Video Assistant Referee (VAR) review.
Croatia, however, snatched victory late in the match as Nikola Vlasic headed home the winner to seal all three points.
Despite the defeat, Ghana progressed to the Round of 32 with four points after drawing goalless with England and defeating Panama 1-0 thanks to Caleb Yirenkyi's late winner earlier in the tournament. England's victory over Panama saw Ghana finish third in Group L, securing qualification for the knockout stage.
The Black Stars will now take on Colombia in Kansas City on July 3, with a place in the Round of 16 at stake.
