Vice President urges Central Region to back government, local assemblies for faster development

Vice President Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has appealed to residents of the Central Region to support government efforts and work closely with local assemblies to accelerate infrastructure and public service delivery.

Speaking during the Resetting Ghana Tour on Saturday, June 27, 2026, Prof. Opoku‑Agyemang said the administration is addressing campaign-era grievances, particularly poor road conditions through targeted state interventions along with improvements in education and health infrastructure.

She urged citizens to cooperate with assemblies and actively contribute to the region’s progress, stressing that community involvement complements government action.

“During our campaign, almost everyone was crying about the roads in the country. Thankfully, we have all seen the progress that the government is putting in place to ensure that this and other related matters, especially regarding education, health and others are being solved.

"I plead with you all, our assemblies have also put in place things they are following. I want to urge all of us to help them. We should not appear to be people who know everything. Everyone should volunteer to push the region to a higher height,” she stated.

Prof. Opoku‑Agyemang also called for civility in public discussion, reminding residents of the region’s tradition of respectful engagement.

“Also, I would like to plead with us all, as a region, we are not known to be people who use filthy words in our communications. Our leaders didn’t teach us that.

"A good government has come with President Mahama as the leader who is working. Now it is left with you and I,” she added.
