Police urge WASSCE candidates to stay disciplined, warn against violence and vandalism

The Ghana Police Service has urged candidates to remain disciplined, law‑abiding and to celebrate responsibly as final‑year students prepare to complete the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) on Friday, June 19, 2026.

In a statement, the Service warned that acts of violence, vandalism, arson, assault and other unlawful conduct carry serious criminal consequences that can jeopardise students’ futures and derail their academic careers.

The Police stressed that they will not hesitate to arrest and prosecute anyone found committing such offences.

The Service pointed to two recent incidents of student violence in the Upper East Region that led to arrests.

They cited that at Zebilla Senior High Technical School, two students were arrested in connection with the arson of a teacher’s apartment.

At Bawku Senior High School, four students were detained for rioting, assault on school staff and destruction of property.

The Police further called on students, parents, guardians and school authorities to work together to promote a culture of discipline, respect and peace as examinations conclude.
