The Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Governs Agbodza, has said the government has settled all outstanding payments to the contractor on the Tema Motorway project, removing a major financial barrier to progress on the vital transport link.
Speaking in Parliament on Wednesday, June 17, the minister emphasized that there are no longer any unpaid sums under the contract and that all outstanding claims have been resolved.
“On record, the Motorway contract is ongoing and as of this morning, we don’t owe the contractor any amount of money.
"All outstanding claims have been settled. We will endeavour to continue to encourage the contractors working on this project to hurry up," he stated.
He said the clearance of arrears is part of the government’s effort to prevent financial constraints from delaying project delivery.
Hon. Agbodza called on the contractor to step up activity on site and speed up work, emphasizing the expectation of “visible progress following the settlement of all financial obligations.”
He added that the government will continue to encourage the contractor to accelerate the project’s completion.
