Black Stars arrive in Toronto for 2026 World Cup opener against Panama

Ghana’s Black Stars have arrived in Toronto ahead of Wednesday’s 2026 FIFA World Cup opening Group L clash against Panama.

The Black Stars touched down in Toronto on Monday after concluding their final phase of preparations in the United States ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Ghana has been camped in the United States since earlier this month, using the period to sharpen tactics and build match fitness following an international friendly against Wales in Cardiff.

Head coach Carlos Queiroz and his technical team oversaw intensive training sessions involving all 26 players, with the squad reporting a clean bill of health ahead of the tournament opener.

The team is scheduled to hold its official pre-match training session at BMO Field on Tuesday evening as preparations enter the final stage.

Ghana will take on Panama at 7:00 p.m. ET on Wednesday, June 17, in a crucial Group L encounter and the country's first match of the tournament.

The fixture will mark the first-ever senior international meeting between Ghana and Panama.

The Black Stars are aiming for a strong start to their fifth FIFA World Cup campaign before turning their attention to a highly anticipated clash against England at Gillette Stadium in Boston on June 23.

With expectations high among supporters, Ghana will be looking to begin its World Cup journey on a positive note and build momentum for the challenges ahead.
