Ultimate Charismatic Church (UCC) is intensifying efforts to empower communities through targeted ICT and IT skills development, youth training and financial capital support for small businesses, General Overseer Prophet Akwasi Agyemang Prempeh has disclosed.
Speaking in an interview with The Observer Times, Prophet Prempeh said the church’s empowerment agenda is built around equipping individuals with practical skills and resources to become self-reliant and economically productive. Central to this effort is a structured empowerment programme that provides financial capital and business training to members and community residents whose enterprises are struggling.
The church also offers vocational and skills training for people without employable skills, including hairdressing, makeup artistry, sewing and other trades. These initiatives, he noted, have helped transform the lives of many beneficiaries over the years.
A major pillar of UCC’s intervention is youth development, with young people being trained in Information and Communications Technology ICT and information technology IT, including emerging digital tools that prepare them for opportunities in the modern economy.
To address food insecurity, Prophet Prempeh disclosed that the church distributes free food items such as rice and chicken during church services and outreach programmes. He revealed that in December last year alone, more than 3,000 people were fed through a major community feeding exercise carried out in collaboration with traditional leaders, chiefs and opinion leaders in the area.
Beyond livelihoods and food support, the church has also made healthcare delivery a key component of its social intervention strategy. Prophet Prempeh said UCC operates the Ultimate Community Clinic, a free healthcare facility located at Dome Pillar 2 in the Ga East District of the Greater Accra Region. The clinic is staffed by qualified and specialised medical doctors who provide free consultation and medication to patients.
According to him, patients requiring surgery or advanced diagnostic services such as MRI and CT scans are referred to major hospitals, with the church providing financial and logistical support to ensure they receive proper care.
UCC’s initiatives thus reflect the growing role of churches as partners in addressing social and economic challenges.
Prophet Prempeh said the church’s programmes are designed to support government social policies while leaving a lasting positive impact on communities.
“Our mission is to empower lives and transform communities wherever we are,” he stated.
