Police in the Ashaiman Municipality have arrested 41 suspected criminals during a major intelligence-led operation targeting robbery and other criminal activities in the area.
The early morning swoop, carried out on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, focused on suspected criminal hideouts at Tsinagbe within the Ashaiman enclave, as part of intensified security efforts to restore public safety.
According to the police, the operation began at about 6:00 a.m. and involved approximately 30 officers drawn from the Ashaiman Divisional Command, the District Command, and the Divisional Formed Police Unit (FPU).
The exercise was led by the Ashaiman Divisional Police Commander, ACP Sarfo Agyemang Badu, alongside the Divisional Operations Commander, Superintendent Ransford Painstil, and the Ashaiman District Police Commander, DSP Orlando Joseph Adzokpa.
Police said the operation formed part of ongoing intelligence-driven strategies aimed at reducing robbery attacks and related crimes within Ashaiman and nearby communities.
Out of the 41 suspects arrested, 22 were males while 19 were females.
During the operation, police retrieved several items believed to be linked to criminal activities. The exhibits included packs of cigarettes, two plastic bottles containing yellowish soft drinks suspected to have been mixed with narcotic substances, a pair of scissors, wrappers, multiple mobile phones, and an amount of GH¢3,323.
Authorities say all suspects will undergo screening and profiling to determine their level of involvement in criminal activities, adding that individuals found culpable will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
Police further indicated that similar operations would be sustained across Ashaiman and adjoining communities to clamp down on criminal networks and improve security for residents.
Investigations into the case are currently being led by District Crime Officer Inspector Anthony Hanyabui of the District Criminal Investigations Department (DCID).
