Medeama SC have been crowned champions of the Ghana Premier League for the second time in three years after a commanding 5-2 victory over Heart of Lions at the TnA Stadium on Sunday.
The Tarkwa based side sealed the title with a game to spare, benefiting from Bibiani Gold Stars’ earlier defeat to Dreams FC, a result that ensured Medeama’s unassailable lead at the top of the table.
The win confirms Medeama as champions once again, following their maiden league triumph in 2023.
Despite heavy rainfall delaying kickoff at the TnA Stadium, Medeama delivered a dominant performance in front of their home supporters, controlling proceedings from the outset.
Kelvin Obeng opened the scoring in the 18th minute before doubling the lead later in the first half, giving the hosts a comfortable cushion heading into the break.
Heart of Lions briefly reduced the deficit and attempted to mount a response, but Medeama maintained their attacking intensity.
Medeama continued their dominance after the break, with Derrick Fordjour scoring twice to extend the lead further. Prince Owusu then added a late goal to complete the emphatic 5-2 scoreline.
Heart of Lions managed to score twice, including a late penalty converted by Etse Dogl, but their efforts were not enough to alter the outcome as Medeama comfortably closed in on the championship.
The victory sparked celebrations at the TnA Stadium as Medeama secured another historic Ghana Premier League title in style.
