FDA seizes 140 boxes of alcoholic energy drinks in Upper East Region

The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has seized 140 boxes of Bel Ice Vodka Energy Drink and Cody’s Vody Energy Mix in the Upper East Region over safety concerns.

In a statement, the FDA alleged that the products contain a mix of alcohol and stimulants, which can mask the effects of intoxication.

According to the Authority, the mixture may lead consumers to drink more than they normally would, increasing the risk of serious health complications.

The Authority noted that such alcoholic energy drinks are banned in Ghana due to significant health risks.

“These drinks are banned in Ghana because they mask intoxication, leading to overconsumption and health risks,” the statement said.

The FDA also cautioned consumers to avoid these products and prioritizes public health safety.
