The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has dismissed reports suggesting that sixty per cent of applicants to the military were disqualified during medical screenings due to HIV.
In a recent announcement, GAF described the claims as baseless and misleading, emphasising that they do not reflect the realities of its recruitment or medical screening processes.
"The attention of the Ghana Armed Forces has been drawn to a publication circulating in the media, alleging that about 60% of applicants tested for military medical screening were found to be HIV positive.
"Ghana Armed Forces wishes to state categorically that the publication is FAKE NEWS and should be ignored by all. The medical process is ongoing and no results have been declared as of now."
Furthermore, the GAF urged the general public that all efforts are underway to trace the originators of the mischievous story.
It also warned media practitioners, especially content creators and bloggers/vloggers, to be circumspect and crosscheck their facts before going to press.
This announcement was released on Sunday, January 25, and signed by Veronica Adzo Arhin, Captain (Ghana Navy), Acting Director General Public Relations.
