The Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, has commenced a strategic three-day working visit to Morocco.
The trip aims to deepen bilateral trade relations and unlock new investment opportunities between Ghana and Morocco.
According to a statement from the Ministry’s Public Relations and Communications Unit, the visit began on Monday, May 4, 2026. During the tour, the Minister held high-level bilateral discussions with Morocco’s Minister of Investments, Convergence and Public Policy Evaluation, Karim Zidane.
In the meeting, Mrs Ofosu-Adjare highlighted Ghana’s flagship 24-Hour Economy policy, positioning it as a key driver for industrial growth and investor attraction.
She also drew attention to Ghana’s revised Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) investment law, which enhances incentives and creates a more enabling environment for foreign investors.
Mrs Ofosu-Adjare expressed her appreciation for the invitation extended by the Moroccan authorities and underscored Ghana’s commitment to strengthening economic ties with Morocco, particularly in the automobile and agro-processing sectors.
She commended Morocco’s progress in advancing the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and called for the removal of non-tariff barriers to facilitate smoother trade flows between the two countries.
In response, Hon. Zidane referenced the landmark 2017 visit of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to Ghana as a turning point in bilateral relations, noting that it paved the way for increased economic cooperation.
He encouraged Ghana to boost its export volumes to Morocco to address the current trade imbalance and proposed the urgent organisation of a Business and Investment Forum in Ghana to accelerate partnerships.
Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to swiftly organising the proposed Business and Investment Forum to catalyse business-to-business engagement.
