Amenfi East MP supports BECE candidates with 3,200 math sets, pledges full scholarship

In a renewed demonstration of commitment to education, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Wassa Amenfi East constituency, Nicholas Amankwah, has donated 3,200 mathematical sets to candidates for the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination.

The MP explained that the donation, which has become an annual intervention, forms part of his sustained efforts to promote academic excellence and ensure that candidates in Wassa Amenfi East in the Western Region are adequately equipped for the examinations.

According to Nicholas Amankwah, affectionately called Home Boy, mathematical sets remain essential tools for BECE candidates, particularly in Mathematics and Technical Drawing, and the intervention is intended to eliminate any possible disadvantage arising from lack of learning materials.

The MP stressed that candidates from financially struggling families might not afford math sets, prompting him to donate 3,200 sets to support them.

He also pledged full scholarship package for the best-performing student to further tertiary education, aiming to motivate them to excel in their BECE exams.

According to statistics from the municipal education directorate, a total of 3,167 candidates from 127 schools in the Amenfi East Municipal are to sit for the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination across 14 examination centres.

Of the total, 1,619 are females and 1,548 are boys from 47 private schools and 80 public schools.

Hon. Nicholas Amankwah, on 4th May 2026, visited some centres in Amenfi marking the beginning of the BECE for final-year students.

He paid an official working visit to Amenfiman Senior High School, one of the centres, where he encouraged the candidates and wish them well as they undertake their ongoing examinations.

Home Boy commended the teachers and invigilators for their dedication, discipline, and commitment, noting their crucial role in ensuring a smooth, orderly, and successful examination process.

The Amenfi East MP urged the candidates to remain calm, focused, and confident throughout the examination period, describing the BECE as a critical milestone in their academic journey.

He cautioned them to strictly adhere to examination regulations, avoid all forms of malpractice, and reject leaked questions or unauthorised assistance.
