According to a statement signed on Thursday, June 25, 2026, by Deputy Superintendent of Police and Head of the Public Affairs Unit, Godwin Ahianyo, the operations targeted locations identified through intelligence as distribution and sale points for narcotic substances.

One major raid at Asawase resulted in the arrest of 61‑year‑old Kwame Afriyie, alias “Con Papa” or “American Man.”

A search of his room and provision shop recovered 33 and 48 compressed parcels respectively of a substance suspected to be cannabis.

Officers found 311 transparent rubber sachets of dried leaves suspected to be narcotics, 13 compressed parcels of dried leaves, 10 brown paper wraps containing black rock‑like substances suspected to be narcotics, and quantities of restricted pharmaceutical products.

In Krofrom, police arrested 22‑year‑old National Service personnel Michael Owusu Agyeman with 15 bottles of fruit juice believed to have been laced with cannabis.

Further operations at Atonsu‑Bokuro, Krofrom, Kenyase, Asokwa, Buokrom and Asafo BB produced additional arrests, including Adamu Ibrahim (44), Stanley Boahene (24), Favour Emmanuel (23), Abubakar Sadick (28), Adwoa Serwaa Boamah (36), Paul Quagraine (40), Nana Kwasi Amo Peprah (47), Hamdiyah Ibrahim (37), Nicholas Adorku (39) and Natson Yaaba (31).

Exhibits recovered during the raids include compressed parcels of suspected cannabis, tramadol, ecstasy tablets, amphetamine tablets, suspected cocaine and other suspected controlled substances.

It asserted that all items have been secured for forensic examination as investigations continue to identify and apprehend others involved in the illicit trade.

All suspects have been arraigned and remanded into police custody to reappear in court at later dates.

The Police Service reiterated its commitment to combat trafficking, peddling and abuse of narcotic drugs and urged the public to support law‑enforcement efforts by providing credible information on drug‑related activities.

The Ashanti Regional Command commended the I.G.P. SOT and regional officers for their professionalism and dedication in disrupting criminal networks and enhancing public safety.
