The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Dr John Abdulai Jinapor, recently held high-level discussions with the West African Gas Pipeline Company Limited (WAPCo) to assess the company's performance in 2025 and outline strategic priorities for 2026.
The dialogue centred on WAPCo’s operational achievements over the previous year, which the Minister noted have underscored the company’s essential role in fostering regional energy security across West Africa.
Dr Jinapor emphasised that under Ghana’s Gas-to-Power Policy, natural gas continues to be a fundamental component of the country’s power generation framework.
He stressed that ongoing collaboration with WAPCo is therefore critical to optimising gas supply capacity, ensuring reliability, and supporting future infrastructure developments to accommodate the increasing energy demand.
According to the Minister, enhancing partnerships with key regional energy stakeholders such as WAPCo aligns with the government’s broader agenda to deliver a secure, efficient, and sustainable energy transition while maintaining affordable power for households and industries.
Officials from WAPCo, for their part, reiterated their commitment to upholding high operational standards and collaborating closely with the Ministry to support Ghana’s energy and green transition objectives.
This meeting is part of the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition’s ongoing efforts to strengthen regional cooperation and enhance the resilience of Ghana’s energy supply system.
