Ghana's Minister of Energy and Green Transition, Dr. John Abdulai Jinapor, has convened with the management of the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) to evaluate the refinery's performance in 2025 and establish strategic priorities for 2026 and beyond.
This meeting afforded both parties the opportunity to review the advancements made over the past year and to agree on concrete, forward-looking measures aimed at enhancing TOR’s operational effectiveness, financial viability, and lasting value.
Dr. Jinapor praised the Managing Director of TOR, Edmond Kombat, and his management team for what he termed strong and transformative leadership, particularly in navigating the refinery through a considerable crisis inherited by the current administration.
The Minister remarked that the dedication, resilience, and focused leadership exhibited by TOR’s management are starting to produce promising results and are laying a robust foundation for the refinery’s future growth and stability.
He reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting TOR’s recovery and its repositioning as a strategic national asset within Ghana’s energy sector, aligning with the broader green transition and energy security agenda.
For their part, the Management of TOR informed the sector Minister about ongoing reforms, operational hurdles, and planned initiatives for 2026, expressing optimism regarding the refinery’s prospects as efforts ramp up to restore full capacity and enhance performance.
